Adding a search bar to your blog is one cool feature and interesting widget to have on your blog. But do you really need it.
The first time you created your blog, you might be tempted to add as many widgets as you see to your blog, but the truth is, you might not necessarily need them all.
When i started my blog, I had the search bar on my blog, but I later found no reason to keep it there. Hang on to find out why.
At the time, my blog had less than 30 posts, and i asked myself, why would visitors want to use the search function?
I found no reason, instead, I found reasons why I shouldn't keep it there.
Let's see how the search function can affect your new blog negatively.
Firstly, if your blog has less than 50 posts, you shouldn't consider having a search bar on your blog, because most likely, when users make a search on your blog, they won't exactly what they are looking for, and in turn be discouraged.
So, for this reason; I find it unnecessary to have a search bar when your blog is still in its early days. instead of just adding an unneeded widget and increasing the load time and make your visitors wait longer for your blog to open up.
Believe me, you might be loosing more visitors by having the search bar up than you would by not having it.
Your turn: it's time for you to speak your mind. What do you think about having the search bar on a blog? Good or bad. Let's talk.
