Six qualities of a good blog

One of the many questions usually asked by newbie bloggers is "how to have a good a blog?". Having a good blog is not something so difficult to achieve, just by following some simple steps, you have a good blog -ready to be taken to the ultimate heights- in place.
You might have seen so many posts written on the web concerning having a good blog, but with the simple points I am going to show you in this post, you will realize that your blog is not so far-fetched from being one of the good blogs out there:

Six characteristics of a good blog:
A good blog should have :
1)A good content:
I have always said it and won't stop saying it, "content is the heart of the web". Why do you think a visitor would want to read your blog if you do not have good and quality content. Good content is the driving force behind every successful blog you see. No matter what niche your blog is, always create good and quality content that will turn visitors to readers and readers to loyal readers.
2)A good commenting system:
Ok! so you've written the most interesting content on the web, no what?
A blog is meant to create a kind of relationship between the blog author and the blog readers. How do you create this relationship? Simple! Leave room for comments on your blog. Believe it or not, in every blog post you write, you will always miss out something or add something you shouldn't have added.
Allowing your readers to comment and point out this errors or give you praises shows them that you really think high of them and generates a kind of special feeling. Comments also serve as a source of motivation for bloggers (at least, you are sure you are not reading your blog alone).
Don't be so discouraged if you get bad comments on your blog, it actually shows that you are doing something right and also you need to improve. Also, always reply every comment on your blog.
A very simple "thank you" can have effects you would never have imagined.
3)Social-Sharing icons:
Social networks have come to stay and they are in fact one of the back bone of every blog. How do you make your blog(s) go viral?? You need to realize that most of your traffic (especially in the early days) will be coming from social networks.
You need to add social media icons to your blog. Some of the popular social media you might want to consider having on your blog are:
pintrest (for images) and some more I do not know.
People like to share useful information with their friends, so if readers find your content informative enough, they will be very happy and eager to share with their friends.
Hey! who's that guy that's behind the mask? Honestly, when I land on some blogs, either before or after I read content, I always like to read about the author of the post and I am quite sure it is so for many other people.
A lot of your readers would like to know the man behind the scene that's making things happen. An about page that says what your blog is about and who you are is a very important of a good blog. It kind of help readers feel homely like they actually personally know who the author of the blog is. A good about page should include things like:
your name, your experience, your hobby, the "why" of your blog, the purpose of your blog and some more that might have escaped my mind.
Always remember, a good blog should have a proper about page.

Now, you said so much about yourself, what if I need to reach you, how do I? A good blog should have a contact page that makes it easy to reach the author of the blog.
A very concise and precise contact page should feature features like: email, phone number. Or perhaps a contact form that doesn't require so much effort to fill.
6)A good design:
No matter how good and quality the content of your blog is, if readers do not find it easy to know what is what on your blog, it is as good as been in the trash bin.
A good blog should have a very good design to complement the good content. A good design does not necessarily mean your blog must be the most beautiful on the net or the most expensive template, but something simple and clear for navigation will do wonders.
Conclusion: there are more qualities a good blog should posses but i feel these are just the basics. In my coming posts, I will talk more about the qualities of a good blog.
