Six Blogging Practices Every Blogger Should Engage In

There are so many reasons while people set out and create a blog. Be it for the fun, the money, the passion or for whatever reason, what we always want at the end of the (and which is of course natural) is to see our blogs gain readership and popularity.
How do we achieve these goals is what leaves many bloggers restless,
but we need not be. Those goals are something we can achieve by indulging in some practices.

  • Write Well:

Whatever niche it is you have chosen for your blog, it is a very important practice to engage in. Most readers coming to your blog are 8/10 are looking for one information or the other and it is your "duty" as a blogger to present this information as clear as possible. Things like indenting your posts, write in a conversational tone, involving your readers, writing in a simple tone etc are writing skills every blogger should be familiar with.

  • Read Other Blogs In Your Niche:

This is a very important point you can not skip if you want to make something out your blog. Reading other blogs in your niche affords you many benefits which include some of the following:
Makes it easy for you to come up with posts for your blog because you know what people want to read.
You also learn from blogs in your niche, like what they've done to achieve success, the mistakes they make (which in turn you will avoid).

  •    Leave Comments On The Blog You read:
After you read posts on blogs, it is "not just helpful", but rather "necessary" that you leave comments on those blogs. By dropping your comments, you are doing your blog a whole lot of good. If you say something meaningful in your comment, it leaves other blog readers curious to want to know the person behind such insightful comment and will in turn click through too see your blog. If at the same you have good articles on your blog, that means more readership for you.

Also, owners of such blogs would like to know more about you and perhaps even publicize you to their readers. You see, it is a win win situation.
  • Relate With Bloggers In Your Niche:
This point still goes around the two above but I think it's worth touching again. Just leaving comments on blogs might not be enough, seek out for bloggers in your niche, most especially those in the same level as you, form a kind of partnership with them(it might not be a serious one, but at least one which will have you mentioning each other on your respective blogs). This may seem trivial but you will be surprised at how useful it can get for your blog.
  • Respond To comments On Your Blog:
Ok, so you have written "that great article" and the comments have started pouring in, or perhaps you got just one or two, make it a point of duty to respond to every comment on your blog. This may not be possible for the already established blogs, but if you're just starting a blog and you are struggling to get comments, the few ones you get, respond to them. A simple "Thank you"  can work wonders.
  •  Use Social Media:
Today, social networks have been indispensable to blogs and their importance can not be over emphasized. In the early days of your blog (when Google has yet to realise you and your blog exists), most of your traffic will be coming from social media. Share your posts to facebook, tweet your posts, digg them, share to Google plus and just about any social media network that is available to you.
Also, you can build up a great audience from social media.
Even me, I am guilty of some of the points above like the "commenting on other blogs" but I hope to change the habit soon.
Over to you, what would you like to add or remove from the points above, or perhaps any of the blogging practices you are guilty of, feel free to air your mind
